Principal’s Post

Principal’s Post…

Welcome Back!!!!! The teachers are busy creating really amazing learning environments for your children and it is such a pleasure walking the halls watching them work so hard getting ready for the first day! I am looking forward to meet many of you over the next few weeks and I really hope many of you will join us for the first PTO meeting on September 6th at 6:15pm as well our Open House on September 14th, 6-7pm (more information to come).

A few notes:
-Pocasset has very limited space for parking and drop off therefore I am urging ALL families to utilize our bus transportation.
-Should the need arise to drive your child to school the following DROP OFF protocol has been implemented: REMEMBER doors open at 8:40am! You must remain in your vehicles at all times.

Drop Off Zone is between the gym door and main entrance and marked on the curbing students can exit the vehicles anywhere between these two doors.

Students Only will exit the vehicle from the passenger side (onto the sidewalk) with all their belongings. Students will walk in the gym door and report to their classrooms.

- Parents will remain in the vehicles, once the students are on the sidewalk, parents will follow the line of traffic around the parking area in the back of the  school and out the main exit onto Main Rd. The next group of cars will pull up and do the same. This releases a number of students at once instead of one at a time.

- Parents that drop off their child(ren) for the
breakfast program may bypass the line to drop off your student(s) behind the school at 8:30am.
-All PRE-School parents may bypass the line and park in the back to allow time to securely put children in or take out of car seats.
-The purpose for this DROP OFF protocol is to keep the traffic flowing quickly and to ensure everyone, including our buses, arrive safely and in a timely manner. We must also keep Main Rd. clear for emergency vehicles at all times.

- There is
NO Parking in the red numbered spaces as these are designated for staff members at ALL times. We have many staff members that travel to different school therefore these spaces must be available to them. Spaces in the back of the school are available for you to use.

OPEN HOUSE will be Thursday, September 14th. It is exciting to see the students share their school with their families along with all the amazing things they will have done in school so far!

NO SCHOOL:  Monday, September 4th - Labor Day and October 9th -Columbus Day

-Help us keep our playground clean!! Please pick up all trash after your visit!!

-Please review Pocasset’s Behavior Expectations with your child this year. These will go home the second week of school. Expectations are also displayed and reviewed here at school consistently. All students are held accountable for these behaviors and consequences will be issued to those who do not make good choices.

Let’s work together to keep Pocasset the AMAZING school it is!!! Thank you ALL for your support!!

**Just a reminder that morning arrival is a DROP OFF process- please have your student exit the vehicle on the SIDEWALK side ONLY where the curb is labeled "Student Drop Off". We ask that ALL vehicles in between this marked area release their students onto the sidewalk. Please DO NOT get out of your vehicle- we must keep traffic moving.

ABSENCES- Parents are requested to notify the office when their child will be absent for school due to illness, appointment, etc. ALL families that do not call the school will receive a ROBO-CALL from the district to alert them of their child's absent which will them be documented for school records.
