UPDATES & INFORMATION

Dear Tiverton Parents and Guardians,

Food Bank

We have partnered with the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, www.mlkccenter.org, to start a Food Bank at Tiverton High School. Families of Tiverton Public School students facing food insecurity may visit the Tiverton High School Food Bank on Wednesdays beginning April 10th.  The food bank will be open on April 10th, April 24th, May 8th, May 22nd, and June 5th from 3:15 pm - 5:15 pm. Summer hours are to be determined. When visiting the food bank, please enter through the main doors, and turn left after the office. The only requirement is that families will need to provide their student's name(s) and number per household. Please contact Lee Ann McCarthy at lmccarthy@tivertonschools.org for more information.

Plan now for the Solar Eclipse on Tuesday, April 8, 2024

On Monday, April 8th, a momentous celestial event awaits us: a Total Solar Eclipse. Starting at 2:15 pm and concluding at 4:38 pm, with the peak coverage of 91% anticipated around 3:30 pm, this eclipse promises a breathtaking spectacle for all who witness it. Such occurrences are rare; in fact, it will be 21 years until another Total Solar Eclipse graces the skies of the United States.

However, this event presents a unique challenge, as it coincides with dismissal time for our students. Ensuring their safety while experiencing this phenomenon is paramount. To address this challenge, we are grateful to announce that the Teachers Union in Tiverton has generously donated eclipse-viewing glasses for each student. These glasses are specifically designed to enable safe viewing of the eclipse. These glasses will be distributed to students on Monday.

We understand that some parents may have concerns about their child participating in this activity. If you prefer for your child not to receive a pair of eclipse-viewing glasses, please contact your building principal at your earliest convenience.

Let's embrace this extraordinary opportunity to witness the wonder of the cosmos, safely and together.

See link below that provides information on the eclipse.

Tiverton Student and Professional Soccer Game

This Saturday, April 6th, one of your Tiverton HS singers, Kristina DeCotis, will be performing the National Anthem at our Rhode Island FC home match vs Charleston Battery at Byant University, which will be televised on both NESN and ESPN+. I wanted to offer the Tiverton community an opportunity to come out and support Kristina as she performs at their themed, Youth Soccer Night. Feel free to share the following link, which includes a $4 discount on tickets. I'm sure Kristina would be appreciative of seeing her local community coming out.
