Christopher

Dear Tiverton School Community,

I am honored to introduce myself as Tiverton's newly appointed Superintendent of Schools. I come to this vibrant and dedicated community with enthusiasm, and I look forward to working with all of you to ensure that all of our students are prepared with the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in school and in life.

As I begin this new journey with you, I want to express my commitment to building on the good work that has already been done by the educators, families, and leaders who care so much about the success of our students. Tiverton is a community that is well known for its close-knit culture, high expectations, and shared belief in the power of education to transform lives. I feel privileged to now be a part of it.

Our district's mission, or purpose, is to provide an exceptional education through high quality instruction and positive relationships. The Strategic Plan establishes a vision for the future that makes student learning, well-being, and opportunity the centerpiece of all we do. Among our top priorities are:

  • Academic Excellence: Offering every student challenging, relevant learning that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving in the world around them

  • Student Well-Being: Supporting the social, emotional, and mental health of each student so that they can become confident and resilient adults

  • Employee Development: Providing ongoing training, building a culture of shared responsibility, nurturing new teachers, and supporting all educators through professional learning communities

  • Operational Effectiveness: Stewarding our resources wisely and strategically to achieve a safe, well-managed, and future-oriented school system

These strategic objectives come to life in our Portrait of a Graduate, which envisions every Tiverton student graduating from our high school as a self-directed learner, effective communicator, empathetic collaborator, critical thinker, and responsible citizen. It serves as a powerful reminder that success in the classroom depends not only on what students learn, but also on how they learn, and with whom.

At the same time, our Portrait of an Educator recognizes our belief that the adults in our schools play a fundamental role in shaping this future. As educators, we model lifelong learning, positive relationships, embracing innovation, and equity and belonging.

I step into this role not only as an educational leader, but as someone who believes in the power of public schools to strengthen communities and transform lives. Over the coming weeks and months, I look forward to getting to know many of you and learning about your hopes and aspirations for the Tiverton School District.

Together, I believe we can leverage the district’s strengths to create a future where all students thrive.

With gratitude and commitment,

Christopher Haskins

Superintendent of Schools
